Wanderlust
(n.) A strong desire or urge to travel and explore the world.
Ken and Becky met at the University of Florida in Gainesville in 1975. We have been married for 45 wonderful years. We have lived in Florida, Hawaii and Virginia. We are currently living on the shores of Lake Keowee in the beautiful Upstate region of South Carolina. We have two adult children, their spouses, and three amazing grandchildren that keep us busy. Life is good!
Becky is a retired Captain in the U.S. Navy with over 36 years of active service to our country. As one of the first group of females to go through college on an NROTC scholarship, she has been on the cutting edge of military readiness and proficiency since day one. Over the years, she has supported various Navy and Joint Commands in Florida, Hawaii, Washington D.C., Rhode Island, Chicago, and Djibouti. Because of the quality and excellence of her work, she has received many commendations and awards recognizing her service. Becky retired in 2015.
Ken was ordained into the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church in 1984. He served churches as an Associate Pastor, Executive Pastor and Senior Pastor throughout Florida. His churches were located in Ft. Lauderdale, Clearwater, Boca Raton, Orlando, Jacksonville, Lakeland, and Zephyrhills. Ken retired in 2016 after 32 years of service. In 2024, Ken ventured out of retirement and transferred his membership and Ordination credentials to the newly formed Global Methodist Church. He is now a Senior Elder in the South Carolina Conference and is available to the leadership team to lead worship in area churches as needed, mentor new clergy, and assist with the launch of new Global Methodist Churches in the Upstate area.
Together we stay pretty busy in our little slice of heaven. The beauty of nature is so rich in our area. There are hiking trails, scenic drives, waterfalls, mountaintop vistas to witness the brilliant fall colors of the trees, and some of the most crystal-clear lakes in the southeastern U.S. The fishing is amazing. We observe bears, deer, turkeys, foxes, otters, loons, bald eagles and more right from our window overlooking the lake. We even have a colony of white squirrels (Brevard squirrels) who call our backyard home. We enjoy many outings on the pontoon boat to fish, picnic, pull guests on the tubes, and enjoy scenic wine and cheese sunset cruises on the water. We also stay involved in church events, social groups, the Golden Corner Lakes Sail and Power Squadron, teaching safe boating classes to those who have just moved onto the lake, PEO, and more. We always take the opportunity to spend time enjoying and entertaining the grandchildren. We love making memories with them. We love retirement!
We have been traveling the world together for the past 35 years. What began as a simple trip to England has turned into a passion to see as much of this great big, beautiful world as possible. Since that first trip, we have traveled to many incredible places. We have shared our journeys with hundreds of people to destinations both near and far. We love to travel.
